Spooky Songs to Sing at your Halloween Party

It’s now October, and we all know what this means… Halloween! Halloween is an occasion that all ages can enjoy; whether you’re young and enjoy an evening of trick-or-treating or you’re an adult who hosts a party every year. If you’re the party animal in this scenario, this blog post is for you.

We aren’t going to give you a list of sweets that you should be picking up while going door-to-door; instead, we’re going to advise you on how to spice up your Halloween party. It’s one thing having a great playlist to listen to, but as a choir member or just a lover of singing, have you ever thought about what songs would be great for you and your guests to belt your hearts out to, too?

In this blog post, we’re going to give you our take on the five top Halloween songs that are a must for you and your zombies to have a boogie and sing-song to while you drink your vampire blood punch and eat your zombie eyeball cupcakes!

So stay tuned, and let’s get scary.

  • Thriller – Michael Jackson

Without Thriller, is it really a zombie-infested party? We think not! This is such a fun-filled, freaky song that it is always a fantastic option for a group sing-along – someone can even take on the role of the creepy voice at the beginning and the end of the song, too!

Not only is this song a Halloween number that’ll have you all giggling while singing, but you can even push the boat out and dance to it, too! With its own well-known dance routine, you zombies will be in full character – hitting all of MJ’s notes and grooving to the dance. However, this dance routine takes preparation, so we suggest that you rehearse if you plan on making a fun video for Facebook!

  1. I Put a Spell on You – Screamin’ Jay Hawkins

Well, if you’re not into the Zombies, maybe Witchin’ it up will be on the cards? This song, which was also prestigiously featured on the hit Halloween-inspired film ‘Hocus Pocus’, is definitely one to add to your Halloween singing playlist.

Not only can you get into your scary witch characters, but this mysterious song will have you belting out a chorus that’ll put your voices to the test! Don’t forget, this song has so many versions, so finding the right version for your voices will help you to perform this song well.

  1. Bring Me to Life – Evanescence

This song, although not obviously-scary, would still make such a fantastic addition to your Halloween set – especially if you really want to showcase your beautiful voice. Like zombies have to be brought to life, bring your party to life with this rockin’ tune! It boasts a brilliant duet that’ll be great fun for the ladies and gents of your party. Even though the notes may be a little hard to reach in this song, it’s all about having fun, so do your best, and remember to pull out your air guitar!

We’ve added it to our list because songs like this always go down a treat for the whole crowd, and by introducing dark rock ‘n’ roll, you are bringing a creepy atmosphere to the room… If that’s not enough to creep your guests out, what is?

  1. Welcome to The Black Parade – My Chemical Romance

This song screams skeletons, ghouls and the scariest characters of all! As it is another rock song, you and your guests can have a belting time while screaming out the lyrics and jumping around with your air guitars again!

It’s totally okay if you don’t sing this song to the best of your ability because this type of tune is there for you to have fun with – have your group sing different parts of the song at once and take Accapella to a whole new level!

  1. Bury a Friend – Billie Eilish

Last but not least, let’s not forget the creepy Billie Eilish! Her song Bury a Friend portrays a very dark, slow but effective tone throughout. The song is based upon the place that people go when they fall asleep; including in their nightmares! We suggest that you make your Halloween party a nightmare come to life with this number!

Not only could you all dance mysteriously, but you could make this even funnier by telling each singer to keep a straight face! They could even speak the whole of the lyrics – this will be sure to have the rest of your guests running for the door – or falling over laughing!

We hope that our list of top 5 Halloween songs to sing at your Halloween party has given you some inspiration. Throwing a Halloween party should be scary, but it also needs to be inclusive for all of your guests, and most importantly a night of constant laughter. Not only will your guests enjoy singing their hearts out, but it’s bound to create enough funny memories to last you until the next Halloween party!
